| Part of the mission of The Bach Ensemble is to serve the community as a public educator. Our education program includes:
Lectures &
Notes We also provide written notes on the day’s performance in the concert program. The program for our Spring 2003 concert featured commissioned research notes from Reverend Thomas Damrosch, Rector of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Naples. High
School Internships The Bach Ensemble’s first three student interns were from Barron-Collier High School during the 2002-2003 Concert Season. For 2003-2004 we are delighted to welcome four interns from Gulf Coast High School. They rehearse with us each Saturday morning and are expected to learn the music and to perform in upcoming concerts. Public
School Workshops Similar programs, for fourth graders at Golden Gate Middle School and for third graders at Lely Elementary School, (2004 – 2005) were presented master classes on baroque music with adaptation for the students. Demonstrations of the cello and baroque flutes were compared to modern ones. In a similar program for fourth graders, at Golden Gate Middle School in May 2004, we will work on putting together a song with fairly compelling rhythmic accompaniment and introduce two-part singing to them. We will likewise feature a violinist or cellist.
Free Public Workshops In 2006, The Bach Ensemble will present one master class-lecture demonstration on “How to Listen to Baroque Music” at the Central Avenue Branch of Collier County Public Library on February 2nd. On February 7th. at 6:30 pm, The Bach Ensemble will present a special lecture-demonstration on “How to Listen to a Baroque MESSIAH,” at The Main Branch , Collier County Library on Orange Blossom Drive.
